Seller badges & supported results
What do the three seller badges mean?
- 🇺🇸 U.S.-Based Seller
The seller is identified as U.S.-based, or is an Amazon-operated seller covered by the policy explained below.
- 🌐 Global Seller
Available information identifies the third-party seller as based outside the U.S.
- 😐 Couldn’t Verify
The available information was insufficient to classify the seller. This does not indicate a particular location or product quality.
Does a U.S.-Based Seller badge mean the product was made in the U.S.?
No. The badge describes the seller's business location based on the seller information available from Amazon. Amazon-operated sellers, including Amazon Resale and regional Amazon Global Store sellers, are treated as Amazon.com and receive the U.S.-Based Seller badge, even when their listed business address is outside the U.S. The badge does not establish where a product was manufactured or shipped from, or certify the product's quality.
Why do some listings from the same brand show Global Seller while others show U.S.-Based Seller?
Shop Stateside checks the seller of record for a listing, not the product's origin or the brand's home country. Similar products from the same brand may be offered by different sellers, and those sellers may be based in different countries.
For example, one listing may be sold by Amazon.com itself and show U.S.-Based Seller, while another listing from the same brand is sold by a seller based outside the U.S. and shows Global Seller. The reverse can happen too. The badge describes the seller for that listing; it does not classify the entire brand or establish where the product was made.
Does Shop Stateside support every Amazon view?
No. Shop Stateside currently supports standard Amazon.com search-result cards in desktop Chrome, many sponsored results, and selected sponsored brand and recommendation carousels. Desktop results use full-text badges. A neutral face (😐) means the seller could not be verified. Unsupported views and results include, but are not limited to:
- Other product carousel layouts.
- Amazon Haul.
- Seller storefronts.
- “Inspired by your browsing history” recommendations.
- Results with no featured offer.
Other Amazon layouts may also be unsupported. Product-page badges are not part of the current release.
Why do some results have no badge?
Shop Stateside adds badges to supported Amazon search-result cards to help you decide what to open while scrolling. Seller information may still be loading, may be unavailable, or the result may use an unsupported layout. Badges are not guaranteed for every result.
A missing badge does not tell you where the seller is based.
Where are badges placed, and when do they update?
On supported results, Shop Stateside places its badge directly beneath Amazon’s label at the top of a card. If there is no such label, our badge appears at the top left of the photo area.
Seller checks prioritize results currently in view. Badges update as seller information becomes available, so some results may finish checking before others.
Privacy & permissions
Does Shop Stateside store my Amazon account data?
No. Shop Stateside does not store your Amazon account data, including your account identity, purchase history or personal account details.
Does Shop Stateside store my Amazon shopping data or account history?
No. The extension does not save your Amazon searches, browsing history, purchase history or account details. Amazon pages and product details are processed in your browser to determine seller badges; product-to-seller lookup results are not saved between page sessions.
To avoid repeating seller lookups, the extension does keep a local cache of seller IDs, seller country codes and the dates they were checked. Cached entries are treated as stale after 90 days and removed when next read. This cache stays in your browser and is not sent to the Shop Stateside account services.
The extension makes seller-information requests to Amazon, but does not send your Amazon searches, product history or seller-check results to the Shop Stateside account services.
What information goes to the account services?
Signing in sends your email address and the code you enter to the sign-in service. Once signed in, account checks use your authentication token to verify your access. An authentication token lets the service recognize your signed-in session; it does not contain your Amazon browsing history.
Starting a subscription or managing billing contacts the account service and opens the payment provider. These account actions are separate from seller checks.
Your Shop Stateside sign-in email address and authentication session are stored so the extension can recognize your account. The sign-in service maintains your Shop Stateside account, and the payment provider maintains billing information if you subscribe. Signing out clears the extension's local account state; it does not delete your sign-in account or billing records.
Why does the extension need access to these websites?
Amazon access lets Shop Stateside read supported search results, look up seller information and display badges. Sign-in service access lets you sign in and refresh your authentication session. Shop Stateside account-service access lets the extension verify whether your account has access and open subscription or billing management.
Your browser controls which websites the extension can access. In Chrome, review Shop Stateside's site access in the extension settings. The extension cannot silently grant itself permission.
Your account & subscription
Do I need a Shop Stateside password?
No. We use a one-time sign-in code sent to your email address. Enter the code on the account page. The extension stores the resulting session on your device so it can check account access without asking for a code each time. Signing out removes the extension's local account state and turns off seller badges.
Does installing the extension activate seller badges?
Installing the extension alone does not activate badges. You need to sign in with a Shop Stateside account that has active access.
The Chrome Web Store release and new paid subscriptions are coming soon. Existing account holders can check their access on the account page.
How much is the annual subscription?
The planned Chrome launch subscription is $11.99 USD per year, billed yearly. It renews automatically at $11.99 USD each year until you cancel. Promotions may lower the first-year cost of this plan.
Shop Stateside is an app provided by AMS Digital Ventures LLC, and your plan is billed by AMS Digital Ventures LLC. New paid subscriptions will open with the Chrome launch.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Open My account to manage your subscription. You can cancel future renewal at any time. Ordinary cancellation keeps access active through the end of the paid period.
Signing out of the extension or removing it from your browser does not cancel a subscription. Manage cancellation through your account.
Availability & support
Which browsers and devices will Shop Stateside support?
The Chrome release is designed for desktop Chrome on Amazon.com. Versions for iPhone, iPad and Mac through Apple’s App Store and Mac App Store are coming soon.
Shared subscription access is planned: a subscription purchased through an Apple store will also unlock Chrome when you sign in with the same Shop Stateside account, without a second subscription purchase. This Apple purchase integration is not yet available.
How can I get help or report a badge problem?
Email support@shopstatesideapp.com. A short description of what happened, your browser and the Shop Stateside version will help us investigate. If you include a screenshot, crop out personal information.
Please keep emailed sign-in codes out of support messages.
